MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting a Company Accountant to carry out a 12 month maternity cover contract for a sustainably growing business based in Colchester. As the Company Accountant you will be responsible for the integrity of the finance function, supported by a part time Credit Controller. You will need to be a self-sufficient and resourceful individual with strong communication skills to carry out this role successfully.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Production of management accounts
  • Fixed assets, accruals/prepayments, maintenance of control accounts
  • Reconciliation of GBP and Euro bank accounts
  • Company credit card statement processing
  • Supplier payment run & ad hoc payments
  • Reconciliation of customer card payments received
  • Maintenance of customer/supplier accounts
  • Bad Debt Provisions
  • Gross profit reconciliation against tech turnover and payments
  • Posting of company payroll journals and bank payments
  • Pensions and PAYE
  • VAT Returns
  • Quarterly stat turnover reports
  • EIRE Vat returns
  • Prep work for annual external accountants to produce stat accounts/returns

Skills & Attributes:

  • Minimum AAT Qualified would be a preference and qualified by experience will be considered
  • Great attention to detail, quality and accuracy
  • Experience on Sage or Xero would be advantageous
  • Systems migration experience would be advantageous
  • Strong IT skills to include Excel (pivot tables & VLOOKUP)
