Job Description
Beaumont Home Care are seeking 3/4 professional, dedicated and engaging Complex Care Assistant's to join our professional care team to support an incredible gentleman living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Our client has full mental capacity, is fully verbal and has a great sense of humour. Out client lives in a very welcoming home with his wonderful parents.
Our client enjoys engaging conversation and debates, going out into the community, bowling and attending concerts at the O2. The role will involve providing personal care, use of a body hoist and assisting with medical equipment (oxygen concentrator, nebuliser, suction machine, feeding pump (PEG) and BiPAP Machine.
Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care assistance, including PEG, suctioning and using medical equipment such as oxygen concentrator, nebuiliser, suction machines, PEG and BiPAP machine
- Engage in conversations and debates with our client, ensuring a stimulating and enjoyable environment
- Accompany our client on outings and to attend social activities, such as bowling and concerts
- Be available during the day for any assistance our client may require, while also respecting their independence and privacy
- Maintain a friendly and welcoming demeanor, fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere
Qualifications:
- Experience in providing personal care and using medical equipment is desirable but not essential as full training is provided
- Clear spoken English is essential with strong communication skills and the ability to engage in meaningful conversations
- Empathy, patience, kindness and understanding of individual needs
- Ability to adapt to varying situations and provide assistance as needed
- Knowledge of Spinal Muscular Atrophy or an interest and/or willingness to lean about this condition
This role could suit someone who is currently studying as there will be periods during the day where no care is required, allowing for either study time, reading, using a computer or attending to a personal hobby. Our client has given permission for the care professional to use this time for personal activities as long as they can attend to the client if required.
Shifts Available:
Day Shift - Monday to Sunday - 9am to 5pm
Evening Shift - Monday to Sunday - 5pm to 11pm
Our client is ideally looking for someone who can work on a 4 day on 4 day off basis per shift.
