About the role…

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Compliance Team and assist in improving and maintaining the council’s and company’s approach to information management and data governance. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure the effective implementation of Data Protection policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead on the council’s and company compliance with relevant data protection legislation
  • Support compliance with the Freedom of Information Act and associated legislation
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of information governance policies and processes
  • Work with teams across the organisation to ensure the relevant and appropriate collection, management, and retention of data
  • Maintain the Council’s Register of Processing Activities (ROPA) and all Data Protection registers
  • Manage Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA’s) as necessary
  • Manage data subject Right Requests and follow up complaints and ICO notices

You will need…
  • Proven expertise in information management, data governance, and compliance
  • In-depth knowledge UK GDPR, Freedom of Information Act, and other relevant information governance frameworks.
  • Experience of working flexibly as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
