My Client based in Southend-on-Sea are looking to appoint a qualified Compliance Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will work alongside their current Compliance Administrator, focusing on legislative and compliance developments, as well as quality assurance within the insurance sector. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in compliance and a keen understanding of regulatory requirements.

Job Description:

  • Monitor and communicate legislative and compliance developments impacting the business.
  • Stay updated with FCA, CBI, and other regulatory body requirements to ensure all conduct requirements are met.
  • Develop and implement plans for regulatory compliance.
  • Investigate compliance risks and issues, providing feedback as necessary.
  • Report to the Operations Director and Commercial COO, ensuring procedure manuals and conduct risk policies are current and accurate.
  • Coordinate internal reviews, update compliance documentation, and assist management with implementing recommendations.
  • Manage and control audit and review processes with underwriters or regulators.
  • Prepare regulatory return submissions and maintain the Annual Compliance Framework.
  • Report any identified regulatory breaches promptly.
  • Monitor and escalate findings related to complaints, customer feedback, or other monitoring activities.
  • Supervise day-to-day compliance activities and carry out monitoring of any sub-agents.
  • Assist key directors in preparing compliance Board papers and updates.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a compliance role or department.
  • Experience within the insurance industry is ideal.
  • Compliance and monitoring experience within a regulated environment.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in reading and analysing complex documents such as regulations.
  • Ability to balance compliance perspectives with business needs.
  • Proven experience with Excel and Word.
  • Team player with a collaborative approach.
