We now seek a Construction Manager to join us on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role

As a Construction Manager, you will lead the safe, effective and timely delivery of all site-based aspects of a project.

You'll ensure that project delivery is consistent with our strategy, commitments, goals and contractual requirements, managing all operational staff and subcontractors to achieve these outcomes.

Overseeing the day-to-day planning of projects, you’ll build strategies, develop a high-performing team and drive a culture of 'safety first’, ensuring the wellbeing of all staff, subcontractors, stakeholders and the public.

Additionally, you will:

- Deliver a completion strategy for the operational elements of the project
- Contribute to risk and opportunity management
- Assist with procurement procedures

About You

To be considered as our Construction Manager, you will need to demonstrate:

- Qualifications appropriate to the role
- Previous experience in the sciences (desirable)
- Extensive knowledge of safe systems of work and putting people to work safely
- Ability to plan and maintain a site set up which is appropriate for the scale of the project
- Plan, manage and coordinate all relevant resources needed to deliver the operational aspects of the project
- Ability to recognise and promote best practice throughout the project
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and provide reassurance and leadership to all Walter Lilly staff on the project
- Ability to embrace technology and modern methods of construction and strive for efficiencies
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to break issues down and derive results
- Extensive knowledge of programme management and control
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of Asta Powerproject
- Ability to recognise driving critical activities and actively deliver mitigation measures
- Significant experience of Walter Lilly market sectors and an extensive knowledge of the operational requirements to deliver these projects
- Ability to recognise the importance of change management and the associated risks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, inspiring and motivating others
- Ability to understand and qualify business development relationships and opportunities for Walter Lilly and communicate these to the pre-construction department and your team to help their discussion
- Ability to understand what information is needed to report internally on developing relationships and project opportunities
- An appreciation of and awareness that your peers are the decision-makers of the future
- Obtain and maintain the necessary health and safety qualifications required for the role. CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid are mandatory
