Job DescriptionWe're recruiting for a Regulatory Affairs Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital role in delivering the Group's regulatory strategy with responsibility for proactively managing L&G's relationship with the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), Bank of England (BoE) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as required.
You will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of prudential regulation imperatives (PSM actions, Information Requests, Thematic Reviews, Regulatory Change) as well as supporting SMFs prepare for interviews and provide advice to the business on the PRA's agenda.
What you'll be doing:
- Maintaining positive and transparent regulatory relationships on behalf of the Group and its regulated entities with the PRA including ensuring SMFs are appropriately briefed in advance of regulatory meetings, interviews and investigations and information requests and actions are responded to within appropriate timeframes
- Coordinating groupwide consultation responses to the PRA and ensure appropriate read across to and consideration for publications by other regulatory bodies (e.g. FCA, BMA)
- Coordinating the delivery of regulatory imperatives to a consistently high standard within agreed timescales including PSM actions
- Maintaining a full and accurate audit trail of information flows between Legal & General and the FCA / PRA
- Ongoing review, analysis, and interpretation of management information from across L&G to inform reporting to governance fora and identify areas for further consideration / oversight
- Preparing regular reports for Board and Executives on the relationship with the PRA and progress against regulatory expectations
- Developing and maintaining productive relationships across Risk and the supported Business Units, including providing guidance on regulatory engagement and trends within the wider environment
- Advising the business on PRA regulation supporting the business to deliver its strategy in a safe and compliant way
QualificationsWho we're looking for:
- Good knowledge of the PRA Rulebook and associated documents so that relevant rules and guidance can be identified and interpreted quickly
- Good knowledge and understanding of the regulatory priorities for the sectors and markets in which L&G operates
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with management and external parties
- Ability to devise practical solutions to problems and processes
- Recent experience of working at the PRA / BoE, or proactively managing the relationship with the PRA on behalf of a regulated firm
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure high quality delivery of management information and presentations in meetings and other forums
- Experience of interpreting and implementing regulatory change
- Ability to apply effective thought leadership to produce insightful, high-quality briefings and reports to senior management and the Board
