Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Counsellor (Adults) based in the Black Country Area (Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall, Wolverhampton).

The purpose of this role is to provide time limited, specialist trauma informed counselling to adult victims both male and female over the age of 18yrs. Clients will be referred through the support services - domestic abuse, rape and sexual violence, exploitation and partner pathways such as the West Midlands Adult Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC). All referrals will be initially triaged and risk assessed by the Senior Counsellor and allocated out to the counsellor. Counselling can be delivered face to face or online whichever is best for the victim.

This is a part-time (15 hours - equivalent to 2 days per week), permanent role offering a salary of £12,129 (pro rata - £30,322.50 FTE)

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Provide time-limited person-centred counselling to adults who have experienced violence and abuse in accordance with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s (BACP) Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
  • Counsel and manage a caseload of up to 9 clients over the 15-hour period completing all the necessary records of sessions and administration.
  • Ensure that client feedback is obtained using evidence-based tools to assess and evaluate the impact of counselling on the client.
  • Take an active part in the development of the counselling and wellbeing service and other victim’s service ensuring that the experiences of people counselled is shared and changes reflect their needs.

Person Specification

  • An education to degree level or Diploma minimum Level 6 in Counselling.
  • A minimum of 250 hours face to face counselling experience.
  • Membership of recognised relevant professional body such as BACP, UKCP or similar.
  • Postgraduate qualification or evidence of further CPD in specific areas relating to women, men and children dealing with trauma and crisis.
  • Experience of working with families with complex needs, such as mental health and substance misuse.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people, acknowledging safeguarding concerns and responding appropriately.
  • Full driving license with willingness to use own vehicle.
  • DBS check to be undertaken.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
