Job Title: Court of Protection Solicitor (or Chartered Legal Executive)

Location: Southampton

Hours: Permanent, Full-time.

We are seeking a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join our client’s specialist Court of Protection department. This role will operate out of their Southampton offices, and you will be joining a leading regional law firm, listed as a Times Top 100 Best Law Firm to Work For with offices across the Southeast of England.

You will be working in a team covering all aspects of Court of Protection work including property and affairs management and community care for clients who have received compensation through personal injury or medical negligence claims.

You will be responsible for a diverse and complex caseload, uphold the high standards of client care, and contribute to the development and mentoring of the more junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage your own caseload of Court of Protection matters, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
  • Maintain and build strong client relationships, providing empathetic and responsive service.
  • Assist with the coaching and mentoring of less experienced team members, including Solicitors, Legal Executives, Trainees, and Paralegals.
  • Uphold the firm’s values and contribute to a positive team culture.

Requirements:

  • A Senior Associate (Solicitor / Legal Executive) with approximately 7+ years of PQE in managing a varied caseload of Court of Protection matters.
  • Familiarity with time recording and meeting annual fee targets.
  • Engaging, empathetic, and friendly communication style, able to confidently interact with vulnerable clients and their families.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to supporting the team.
  • Experience in or interest in supervising and developing junior team members.
