Academics are currently working in close partnership with an Ofsted 'Good' Academy in Stoke-on-Trent who are now requiring an enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisor from September 2024.

This particular academy is known for its well-designed curriculum; providing many creative opportunities for all of its students. It also offers an excellent CPD provision for all of the school's in-house staff.

The Role

  • Start date is Monday 2nd September 2024.
  • Full-time (5 days a week)
  • Work is guaranteed until the end of the summer term, July 2025.

Cover Supervisors are utilised in a secondary school to provide cover for a class (this can be up to 30 students) when a teacher is absent for a day or short/long term. A Cover Supervisor is not responsible for planning or assessing a lesson as work will be set for students to complete. As a Cover Supervisor, you will ultimately manage behaviour and you will ensure that all students remain on task and complete their work to a respectable standard.

The ideal experienced Cover Supervisor will:

  • Hold a minimum of 6-12 months prior experience as working as a Cover Supervisor, Unqualified Teacher, Secondary Early Career Teacher (ECT), or Lecturer in a secondary school or further education setting in the UK.
  • Have excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Will be able to establish a rapport easily with both students and staff.
  • Be resilient and have an optimistic approach.
  • Have a strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate that is currently subscribed annually to the Update Service or be happy to complete a new Enhanced DBS application with ourselves (cost applied).

Academics are dedicated to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect every candidate to share this commitment. Assignments are subject to safeguarding and child protection screening in line with DfE polices, including right to work, employment references and enhanced DBS checks.

If you have the relevant experience and you are looking for a long-term opportunity from the new academic year in September, please click 'APPLY NOW' today to submit your most up to date CV for immediate review.

We look forward to hearing from you!
