Cover Supervisor - Wakefield

At Engage, we’ve specialised in finding and supporting cover supervisors and supply teachers for schools across the UK for over 10 years.

As such, we’ve now built fantastic relationships with schools in the Wakefield area and we’re regularly looking to increase the pool of teachers we can offer to the area as the demand continues to grow.

If you’re a creative and fun-loving supply teacher looking to provide long or short-term supply work in Barnsley, get in touch as we’d love to hear from you.

Rates of pay vary depending on role but are typically around £90 - £120 per day.

These positions will start in September 2024.

About the Role:

You will be leading lessons and covering in the absence of class teachers for varying subjects at a good Ofsted-rated school near Woking. This school is all about innovation and creating a well-balanced learning environment for the students.

You will receive training provided by the school and Engage Education and will be a part of a close and dynamic team. This role has very little planning and marking. This is a good opportunity to work at an OFSTED 'Good’ school that is very supportive and whose core principles are to challenge, evolve and nurture pupils.

If you are passionate about education and the growth within each student’s learning environment this is the role for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and managing a classroom of students in the absence of the regular teacher.

  • Delivering pre-set lesson plans and maintaining a positive learning environment.

  • Managing student behaviour and fostering a productive classroom atmosphere.

  • Assisting students with their work and providing support as needed.

  • Reporting back on the day’s activities and student progress to the school.

About You:

  • Experience working with students aged 11-16

  • Flexibility to deliver lesson planning for different subjects

  • Confident in managing challenging behaviours

  • An ability to build rapport with students quickly

  • Have a fun but firm presence

We welcome applications from candidates with previous experience of working with students with challenging behaviour. If you are an aspiring teacher, or an experienced cover supervisor, this opportunity could be ideal for you.

Why Choose Engage Education as your Supply Agency?

  • Engage Education also has an exclusive partnership with Creative Education which offers over 200 CPD courses for teachers and support staff. Membership with Creative Education is usually via a paid monthly subscription, but as an Engage candidate, you’ll get forever access to all of their current and future content for free.

  • We put our teachers first - with high levels of service to our teachers and ongoing support and training when you’re in a role, our teachers are the happiest.

  • We are a widely recognised and award-winning education recruitment company

  • We offer an excellent 'refer a friend’ scheme where you can earn a £50 Amazon voucher for each referral that completes 5 days of work.

  • We pay all our teachers in line with the Agency Worker Regulations, meaning you will be paid equally to a permanent employee

  • We ensure that you will have your own dedicated consultant who can provide ongoing support and assistance as and when you need it
