Are you a skilled Craft Painter looking for a new opportunity?

DK Recruitment are seeking skilled Craft Painters to join our client’s team to work within Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth, who can demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of surface preparation standards and has relevant experience in a wide variety of coating application techniques. The role may require shift work and overtime to support business needs.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Surface Preparation: Prepare bare substrates and existing coatings, employing a systematic approach to ensure quality standards.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance to colleagues regarding techniques and procedures within your expertise.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understand and adhere to the requirements in paint Manufacturer's Technical and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Application Techniques: Competent in applying coating materials in a marine environment using brush, roller, conventional spray, and airless spray methods.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintain husbandry of working areas and ensure protection of equipment.
  • Damage Control: Implement Damage Control markings on raised tallies.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a marine environment is essential; knowledge of submarines and warships is desirable.
  • Development Training: Willingness to undertake development training as outlined in a competency framework.
  • Documentation: Ability to read and understand MOD BR (Ministry of Defence Book of Reference) documents.
  • Health & Safety: Sound understanding of Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).

Qualifications and Training:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Industrial/Marine Painting or Decorating.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a marine, industrial, or commercial environment.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Industrial/Marine Painting or Decorating with a willingness to undertake additional training.
  • ICATS (Industrial Coatings Applicator Training Scheme) certification.
  • Experience with airless spraying and sign writing is desirable.

Ability to obtain and hold SC (Security Check) clearance is a requirement for this role.
