About the position of Credit Risk AnalysT
The newly created role of Credit Risk Analyst reports directly to the Chief Risk and Information Officer, providing an exciting opportunity to join and shape the credit risk framework for a fast-growing organisation. The role will be critical within a busy and growing lender as they seek to strengthen their analytic capabilities and develop data-led decision-making processes.
You will be familiar with leading complex analytical projects to completion with minimal guidance, formulating and communicating conclusions and proposals considering the risk and reward whilst balancing customer outcomes and supporting the business in making positive strategic decisions.
Responsibilities required for the role of Credit Risk Analyst
- Development of credit risk management strategies including the manual verification rules for the underwriting team.
- Perform analysis on data gathered from Credit Reference Agencies and other sources to design and develop innovative approaches to the credit approval process.
- Monitor decision engine performance to ensure that refer/decline rules, product limits, credit score cut-offs, and affordability assessments are appropriate and effective.
- Operate a robust test-and-learn approach developing tests based on data-driven evidence, setting clear performance expectations with subsequent monitoring and maintenance of performance.
- Undertake specialised analysis in the areas of scorecard development, modelling, profiling/segmentation and forecasting to ensure that lending is by Credit Risk Policy and the risk appetite of the business.
- Code, test, and implement approved changes to the credit decisioning systems, maintaining comprehensive documentation of credit strategies, procedures, and processes.
- Provide support and advice to our internal customers regarding business insight and analytical trends.
- Investigate issues identifying and highlighting trends and emerging issues, together with the identification and development of appropriate solutions to deliver improved customer outcomes and business performance.
Experience required for the role of Credit Risk Analyst
- Excellent analytical and numeric skills.
- Educated to a degree level in a relevant numerate discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Economics) (Desirable).
- Strong skills using relevant software packages (i.e. Power BI/SQL/VBA/Python) to analyse large amounts of data, draw conclusions and drive actions.
- Proven ability to analyse and present data in a Credit Risk role.
- Knowledge of Credit Reference Agency data and reporting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to translate insight into a coherent story that assesses the customer / commercial/financial impact and drives action.
- Ability to consistently deliver accurate, error-free results to a high standard within tight deadlines.
