Criminal Defence Paralegal

A well-recognised boutique law firm is looking to hire a Paralegal working in Criminal Defence.

About the firm:

The firm has an office presence in Central London and Manchester, and is a leader in the specialised area of law that they operate in.

The Team:

• Conduct legal research and analysis to stay up to date with relevant statutes, case laws, and precedents that may impact your clients' cases
• Liaising with Solicitors on cases and collaborate on legal strategy
• Uphold the ethical standards of the legal profession, maintain client confidentiality, act in the best interests of clients, and adhere to the professional rules and codes of conduct
• Assist the Solicitor to provide comprehensive legal advice to clients regarding their rights, potential defences, and the legal implications of their situation
• Flexibility to support issues that may occur out of hours on a rotational basis. This would be telephone only (one evening 5-8pm or weekend day/evening 10am-7pm)

The Role:

The key responsibility of the criminal defence paralegal is to support criminal defence solicitors in their work representing clients who are facing criminal charges.

About you:

• At least 1 years' experience of motoring law and defending motoring offences in a client facing role with experience of running your own caseload, both guilty and not guilty pleas
• Law Degree (2:2 or higher), CiLEX or equivalent and LPC
• At least 1 years' experience using Proclaim
• You will have a professional attitude and ability to be empathetic, approachable and non-judgemental of our clients and the allegations they face often including drink driving and drug driving
