Weston College is the regional provider for the Prison Education Framework (PEF) across the South West of England and is now seeking to recruit an outstanding and highly motivated Curriculum Manager - HMP Leyhill.

This is a full time permanent role, working 37 hours per week.

Day to day duties of the role

  • Effective leadership, motivation and line management of the Weston College team
  • Ensuring regular meetings as designated under the PEF contract.
  • Ensuring appropriate recruitment, scheduling and utilisation of staff.
  • Monitoring and positively contributing to effective delivery of all targets including recruitment, retention, achievement, success, and the teacher quality management plan.

Required skills and qualifications

  • A Degree, or professional qualification, which is appropriate to the work.
  • Leadership and management experience ideally in an education or custodial setting.
  • A Teaching Qualification at level 4 and above.
  • Postgraduate and/or relevant professional experience in education
  • Excellent computer literacy skills including an up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft Office.

HMP Leyhill is a Category D men's prison nestled in Tortworth, Gloucestershire. As an adult male prison with Category D status, Leyhill is a hub for residents deemed suitable for Open conditions. In partnership with Weston College, residents at Leyhill can engage in educational pursuits, ranging from English and math to IT. Additionally, comprehensive vocational training equips individuals with valuable skills and qualifications in wood machining, printing, laundry, retail, kitchen operations, farming, gardening, and fitness. Leyhill takes pride in its personalized approach, offering programs in personal development, social skills, and life management to assist residents nearing their release. Qualified individuals may also benefit from temporary release licenses, enabling them to gain work experience, prepare for transition, or reconnect with their families.
