Meraki Talent are partnering up with one of the largest and leading accountancy firms in Scotland and UK on the appointment of a Customs Advisor.

Custom Advisor responsible for conducting post-clearance audits, tariff classification, and customs research, managing special procedures, liaising with HMRC, providing client advisories, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and supporting engagement administration and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct post-clearance evaluations using client data, including MSS records.
  • Classify client products according to tariff regulations.
  • Prepare and submit post-clearance adjustments, including C285 and C2001, while addressing any related HMRC queries.
  • Support the administration of Customs special procedures, including compiling bills of discharge.
  • Carry out customs research, strategic tax planning, and develop supporting documentation for various customs-related projects.
  • Advise clients, analyse tax data, and respond to inquiries and concerns.

Previous Experience

  • Experience in customs compliance, international trade, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, tariff codes, and import/export processes.
  • Proficiency in relevant software or tools, eg. customs software.
