Cyber Security Analyst
Location: Birmingham - Hybrid
Salary: £40k - £50k DOE + great benefits

We are exclusively partnered with an exciting organisation who are on the hunt for a Cyber Security Analyst to join their growing team.

As a cyber security analyst, your aim is to support the deployment and management of the organisation's Security programme, ensuring robust protection against cyber threats and enhancing cyber awareness throughout the organisation. This involves providing expert guidance on existing and emerging threats, contributing to the establishment of a strong security operations function, and assisting the organisation's journey towards ISO27001 accreditation. The role also includes enhancing cyber controls in line with recognised authority guidance (NIST, NCSC), supporting project teams with cyber reviews, assisting with internal and external audits, and fostering a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing. Additionally, the role requires on-call support for the IT Operations team during out-of-hours alerting and aiding in the assessment, sampling, and implementation of departmental risk management controls.

Responsibilities:

  • Stay updated on cybersecurity threats and perform risk analysis of these threats.
  • Manage configuration changes to security tools in both cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Investigate security breaches and other security incidents.
  • Support and improve key cyber operational processes such as access control and vulnerability management.
  • Help design secure networks and determine best practice methods.
  • Generate incident reports for team members and key staff.
  • Develop and implement security policies and standards with the IT Security Officer.
  • Make informed decisions on security tools, including evaluating products.
  • Collaborate with IT teams on ethical hacking and other security issues.
  • Monitor and audit systems and processes, including identity and access management.
  • Utilize newer security methodologies, such as zero-trust security principles.
  • Deliver cybersecurity awareness training.
  • Communicate cybersecurity issues and strategies effectively to colleagues and management.
