Data Centre IT Engineer

We are a provider of managed hosting solutions for any size or type of business -from a single server to complex managed hosting environments. Since 2004 wehave been providing dedicated hosting solutions for customers and have recentlyexpanded with the build of a large Midlands datacentre site.

We are growing fast andare looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our expanding team working from our Coventrydatacentre site. No two days are the same (so there's always new things to learn or get involved in!) and the role is extremely varied.

Required Skills/Experience:-

• Technically minded with an interest in latest technology
• Experience building/configuring computer hardware
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking
• Excellent written and spoken English
• A good attitude to customer service
• Ability to work on a shift basis and thus excellent timekeeping is essential!
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, for example CentOS, Ubuntu, Almalinux, Debian etc.
• Comfortable lifting/handling/racking servers up to 15kg (occasionally required).

Desired Skills/Experience:-

We are more than happy to train an enthusiastic individual, but the ideal candidate
would have the following:

• Experience with LAMP stack
• Comfortable using Linux at command line level
• Previous exposure to hosting control panels (cPanel/Plesk)
• Understanding of DNS systems
• Experience of using Cisco or Juniper networking equipment
• Exposure to and basic operational understanding of virtualisation technologies
• (VMWare, Proxmox)
• Any previous experience working/building and maintaining computer hardware inparticular rackmount server equipment from Supermicro Dell and HP.
• Comfortable writing basic bash and python scripts

Key Responsibilities: -

Our customers are from a wide range of industries and as a result the work is varied
however typical tasks include:

• Deployment of new physical, virtual and cloud solutions to customers.
• This is a customer facing role and as such you would be involved in supporting and troubleshooting customers hosting/server issues.
• Configuring and racking new Juniper and Cisco switches and routers.
• Configuration of backups using Veeam, and other technologies.
• Deployment and management of private cloud solutions using VMWare, Proxmox and OnAPP.
• Building and upgrading rackmount servers of our own infrastructure and that of customers.
• Managing and deployment of load balanced hosting environments within linux environments.

About the role: -

This position would be working full time from our Coventry datacentre with the opportunity for occasional travel to 3rd party datacentre sites(London/Maidenhead)

• This would be a shift based position working 4 days on - 4 days off in rotation
• Shifts are 11 hours and would be in a rotation as follows: (4 days, 4 off, 4 days, 4 off, 4 nights, 4 off)

• Initial training period of approximately three months during 9AM-5PM hours.
• Full on the job training would be provided.
