Role: Data Engineer x2

Salary: £45-55k (£30-35k junior)

Location: Remote/Oxford (2x a week)

We are thrilled to be working with a highly successful consultancy who are looking to add 2x Data Engineers to their team - 1 experienced & 1 junior. Roles and Responsibilities:

• Subject Matter Expert in SQL: You are happy to be the SQL subject matter expert at the company and are passionate about helping/mentoring other team members who may require SQL assistance.
• Data Warehouse Expansion: Integrate new data sources and implement best practices in data warehouse design.
• Collaboration: Work with the Analytics team to produce dashboard reports.
• Client Engagement: Understand client needs (primarily internal colleagues) and design suitable dashboard reports.
• Analytics Solutions: Develop and maintain analytics solutions and perform data analysis.
• Technical Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for development, processes, and data warehouse changes.
• Troubleshooting: Resolve data-related issues promptly.
• Data Staging: Shape data from multiple sources into reporting and analytical solutions.
• Process Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements in BI delivery.
• Data Modelling: Design and implement data models and schemas to support business requirements and optimise performance.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Data Visualisation: Experience with data visualisation software, preferably Power BI.
• SQL Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of SQL.
• Data Warehouse Design: Knowledge and experience in data warehouse schema design, data modelling, and data warehouse systems (Snowflake preferred).
• ELT Processes: Practical experience with ELT processes and tools, such as:

Data Extraction: Using tools like Apache Nifi, Talend, or custom scripts to pull data from various sources.

Data Loading: Utilising cloud services like Snowflake to load data into data warehouses.

Data Transformation: Employing SQL-based transformations in platforms like dbt (Data Build Tool) or using Python scripts for data cleaning and aggregation.

• Analytical Skills: Analytical mindset with creativity and attention to detail.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly.
• Data Interpretation: Experience in interpreting data to derive insights.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Stakeholder Communication: Comfortable communicating with non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements and explain technical work.
