  • Job Title: Data Protection and Security Co-ordinator
  • Location: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust
  • Hours: 37.5 to 22.5hours Monday to Friday Flexible
  • Trust Location: Trust HQ City Hospital Nottingham/Work from Home

What you'll be responsible for:

  1. To act autonomously as a point of contact for queries relating to the Trust's Data Protection & Security policies and procedures, handling telephone calls and enquiries from Trust staff, patients, the public, and staff of both NHS and non-NHS organisations. This may involve communications of a complex/sensitive nature. You would be expected to be part of a Duty-In rota centrally to provide this service to stakeholders.
  2. To act autonomously and support the Data Protection & Security Manager / Deputy with the co-ordination of the data requests received under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) 2000, Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018 and Access to Health Records Act (AHRA) 1990, this may require the use of complex/sensitive information. For example, but not limited to Subject Access Requests, Court Orders, Coroners Requests, Access to Health Records, Individual Rights Requests etc. Providing support to the business areas with queries on FOIA 2000 / DPA 2018 and information rights queries. Providing information rights / subject access procedure training to teams and individuals when requested. Provide and collate compliance information for the Trust Data Protection & Security Panel. Ensuring relevant systems/logs updated.
  3. To liaise with Trust staff and staff from partner organisations to obtain information required for disclosure purposes.
  4. To act autonomously and support the breach management process and provide administrative support to the Data Protection & Security Manager / Deputy and provide advice and guidance to the organisation. Including the monitoring and updating of incidents via DATIX, assess and record the breach severity scoring and collate incident management information to support the quarterly reports. Monitor the DATIX system to ensure that all Data Protection & Security related incidents have been reviewed, remedial actions implemented, and the incident is closed in a timely manner. Assist with the development and dissemination of relevant lessons learnt via internal communication channels. Ensuring relevant systems/logs are updated.
  5. To assist the function in motivating and negotiating with staff to achieve required outcomes for mandatory and statutory deadlines in relation to Data Protection & Security. Monitor the progression with the uptake of Data Security and Awareness training and produce the data on the Trust's compliance with Data Security and Awareness training. Support the development and implementation of training packages. Presentation of the Data Protection & Security slot at the Trust induction.

You'll have the following skills/experience:

  • Microsoft Office package knowledge e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability to work with data and knowledge of data protection.
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload.
  • Attention to details.

This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.
