Who are we looking for?

The Role
The Dealing Services team forms part of Global Dealing and Implementation. The team plays a crucial role in facilitating efficient trade execution as part of the trade cycle, providing essential support to both the Equities and Fixed Income Dealing Desks. They are responsible for liaising with third-party outsourced teams including SSMO and Aladdin ASM teams to ensure seamless operations. The team ensures compliance with internal policies and industry regulations, such as MiFID II, to guarantee the best client outcomes. By maintaining robust risk controls and leveraging advanced trading systems, the Dealing Services team enhances the integrity and efficiency of trading activities, contributing to the firm's operational success and regulatory adherence.

What will you be doing?
The Multi-Asset Dealing Desk Apprentice will:

  • Assist in fielding trade enquiries & prioritizing dealing desk responses.
  • Monitoring key controls via systems like Aladdin, Bloomberg, and COBRA
  • Support periodic & ad hoc tasks e.g. reviewing execution rates and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Ensuring compliance with close of business monitoring and relevant Risk Control Matrix through desk procedures, how-to guides, and risk registers
  • Providing ongoing analysis and management information, including transaction cost analysis and data analytics, monthly / quarterly trade execution review forum, counterparty hit rate Reporting and other reporting requirements for the Dealing management committee.
  • Support project-related work, including broker onboardings.

What will I need to be successful in this role?
  • Basic understanding of Equity/Fixed Income markets and asset classes
  • Exposure to financial markets through internships, school projects, or relevant coursework
  • Attention to detail and basic analytical skills
  • Enthusiastic and proactive attitude, essential for a self-starter
  • Efficient, proactive, structured approach to work and very well organised
  • Numerate, logical, and analytical approach, ideally with strong performance in mathematics at A-level or equivalent
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including peers and mentors
  • Capability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Basic knowledge or willingness to learn new systems and relevant tools
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn more advanced tools such as PowerBI or VBA
  • Ability to manage processes and coordinate with different people
  • High level of accuracy and good attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively manage day-to-day work alongside apprenticeship qualification

Minimum Requirements
  • Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2025
  • You must not be enrolled into another further education programme at the beginning of the programme
  • Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK
  • Living in England
  • Minimum of Grade 4 in GCSE English and Mathematics
  • Minimum of Grade C in Three A-Levels or equivalent such as BTEC Nationals

Training Provided
As a Multi-Asset Dealing Desk Apprentice with M&G, you will undertake the Investment Operations Level 4 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face to face inductions and masterclasses

Future Prospects
This is a fixed term contract for 18 - 23 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice performance, headcount, and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.

Salary
£26,000 per annum plus benefits
