We are currently seeking a new Depot Manager for our Southampton site. This is an exciting opportunity with lots of scope for individuality, continuous improvement and achievement when presented with numerous challenges. This will be a very busy but extremely rewarding role with the opportunity for development and progression within the business.

Reporting to the General Manager and looking after a team of experienced operators and the administration support staff, the Depot Manager will have overall responsibility for our crane operations based out of the Southampton depot.

This will include the responsibility of managing our assets (cranes, labour and accessory equipment) with the support of the Hire Desk Manager to ensure optimum utilisation is achieved creating maximum profitability to the department. You will also engage with clients and negotiate contracts with existing and new customers.

You will also be responsible for the welfare, safety and working hours of all related personnel, the working success of the Hire Desk and for environmental, health and safety legal & statutory requirements within the depot and meet the set KPI's and SLA's with the support of business head office functions.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant experience preferably gained within the crane or plant hire industry
  • Operational understanding of cranes, transport or hire desk
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Prioritisation and the ability to work under pressure

A CPCS qualification would be an advantage.
