Deputy Plant Manager

Northampton

£35,000-£45,000 depending on experience, plus 25 days paid holiday

Monday to Friday - 8am-4pm

You will support the Plant Manager to lead our client's recycling facility along with day-to-day management of 20 Operatives. Overseeing the plant process and operation, which includes dismantling, segregation, and repurposing of parts.

The role requires operational efficiency along with safety, health, and environmental compliance. You will play a crucial role in driving efficiencies, implementation of, and monitoring KPIs, and managing staff to achieve productivity targets.

As Deputy Plant Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Plant Manager in the daily operations of the plant, maximising production and supporting the wider team
  • Proactively manage and plan waste streams, in and out of the facility, to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Continuously assist in identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Responsible for all Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes (HWCN) including accurate notes received, manage, auditing and reporting.
  • Responsible for total site Security.
  • Waste Management System (WSM) standards compliance, including operational focuses and impacts.
  • Responsible for all Stock Management, in and out of the facility and/or company ownership.
  • Shunting of material and company assets.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for improvement and drive efficiency, presenting to Plant Manager.
  • Assist the business in projects for expansion and new department developments.
  • Report to the Plant Manager and deliver against all agreed tasks, KPIs, SLA's.
  • Maintain and develop working relationships with Customers, Suppliers and Subcontractors

What are we looking for?

  • Forklift Licence
  • HGV Licence preferred not essential.
  • IOSH
  • NEBOSH
  • WAMITAB
  • Proven experience in an Operations role preferably within a recycling or similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
