Elevation Recruitment are seeking an innovative Design & Development Engineer specializing in Plastics and Packaging. This role involves contributing to the design and development of new products and processes, supporting analysis, testing, and validation, and managing various business projects to ensure successful delivery within budget and on schedule.

Design & Development Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Product Development Engineering (PDE) team on new and improved product designs and processes
  • Plan, manage, and execute tasks within business projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives, on-time completion, and budget adherence
  • Oversee projects involving capacity expansion, new product introduction, or system improvements, which may include equipment or material integration
  • Support prototype, pilot, and industrial phases of projects, performing component, product, and performance analysis
  • Develop and report testing methods, criteria, and equipment requirements
  • Identify and assess risks that could impact project success, ensuring continuous risk management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide technical support and resolve field or production plant issues, ensuring product and component debugging aligns with market potential
  • Develop and implement product specifications, FMEA analyses, Quality Control Plans, and ensure regulatory testing compliance for new and revised products
  • Work with Quality and Operational teams, both locally and globally, and develop a strong supplier framework
  • Use project management tools (Smart sheets, Microsoft Project) to manage timelines and maintain accurate documentation

Design & Development Engineer experience:

  • Industry experience in Plastics, Packaging, or Food/FMCG sectors
  • Proficiency in 3D design software (preferably SolidWorks)
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as MS Project and Smartsheets
  • Specialized knowledge in Plastics/Packaging (desirable)
  • Experience with injection moulding tools, including operations, setup, and design
