Accountabilities:

• Develop, implement, and manage design solutions for Hinkley Point C CBS Non-permanent services installations. Designs should be flexible, easily removable, modifiable, and extendable.
• Provide specialist technical support and guidance to the CBS operations teams.
• Ensure integration, technical assurance, compliance, health, safety, and sustainability of design and engineering for a defect-free operational handover, delivered on programme and within budget.
• Coordinate with the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor to ensure regular information flow and CDM compliance.

General Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a design team to deliver effective solutions for Hinkley C Common Building Services, which include temporary power distribution, lighting, ventilation, and other systems.
• Ensure effective utilisation and cost recovery of approximately ten staff in line with resource requirements.
• Promote collaboration between disciplines, coordinating and managing the requirements of all services.

Direct Report Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and manage competency and capability (SQEP).
• Assess training requirements, including CPD events.
• Support the development of trainees and graduates.

Design Delivery:

• Lead the development and implementation of design proposals, ensuring they meet customer requirements, including budget and programme constraints. Present proposals to customers and stakeholders.
• Chair and manage design and technical review workshops and meetings.
• Create, manage, and review requisition specifications for equipment.
• Develop strategies and guidance on the buildability, operability, maintainability, and de-constructability of design proposals.
• Review and approve design documentation.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

• Proven experience at a senior level in building services design and strategy implementation.
• Minimum of ten years' experience in a building services or similar regulated industry.
• Strong leadership skills to deliver design services promptly with a customer-specific focus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to form effective relationships under time pressure.
• Experience in leading or coaching a team is desirable.
• Proficiency in numeracy and report writing.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software applications.
• Experience with current forms of procurement.
• Relevant professional membership (e.g. RIBA, BIBSE, IET).
• Valid CSCS card.
• Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
• Detailed knowledge of codes of practice, especially for temporary installations, designer duties under CDM, and other regulatory requirements.
• Minimum Degree qualification in Electrical or Mechanical discipline.
