Are you an experienced Design Manager with a strong background in healthcare or education projects? Are you ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role with one of the UK's leading main contractors?

My main contractor client is seeking a skilled Design Manager to join their team to work on a state-of-the-art healthcare project in North East England. This groundbreaking facility, the first of its kind, is a large project (over £80M) and is at it's early design stage. Although this particular project is due to be completed in 2026, there is a strong pipeline of work lined up in the region that will provide job security to anyone joining the business.

This is a challenging role due to the unique location and the specific requirements of the project, but it offers a fantastic opportunity for a career-oriented individual who is looking to make a real impact in the healthcare sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design process for this large healthcare project.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors, to ensure design objectives are met.
  • Oversee the production of design deliverables, ensuring they align with project specifications, budgets, and timelines.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and statutory bodies to ensure all design work complies with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Manage design risks and resolve any issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure the project's design meets all security clearance requirements, including DBS and BPSS.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing design for healthcare or education projects or similar
  • Strong background working with main contractors.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with NHS, MOD or DfE project requirements is a plus.
  • Must meet DBS and BPSS security clearance requirements.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary (negotiable depending on experience).
  • Car allowance or participation in a green vehicle scheme.
  • Private medical insurance, with the option to add family members.
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions up to 8%.
  • Professional fees covered, along with access to a wide range of company benefits and discounts.
  • Opportunities for career progression with all the tools you need to step up in your career such as sponsorships for courses and further studies

If you're ready for a new challenge and have the experience we're looking for, we'd love to hear from you.
