Our client is a leading Non-Food FMCG Distributor who is currently recruiting for a dynamic, WMS led Despatch Operations Manager to manage the late shift at their state of the art site in Didcot, Oxfordshire on a Monday - Friday basis (1400hrs - 2200hrs).

Reporting into the Operations Director and with Direct Reports across the Despatch Operations team, you will be expected to lead a despatch operational team and coordinate with all levels of the business to ensure product is packed and delivered to exacting and legal standards, both domestically in the UK and internationally in full and on time to the customer.

Key Accountabilities as Despatch Operations Manager:

  • As the business expert, provide leadership to all optional areas of the distribution centre through to despatched orders.
  • Coordinate and organise daily despatch activities, including assigning tasks to team members and ensuring work is completed on time and efficiently.
  • Monitor team performance and provide coaching and feedback to improve productivity and job satisfaction.
  • Maintain open communication with clients to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
  • Maintain open communication and attend meetings with suppliers / partners to ensure best in class service.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to effectively manage all despatch operations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of despatch activities, including loading and tracking of deliveries and pickups.
  • Work collaboratively with other managers and departments to ensure smooth operations and effective customer service.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness in dispatch operations.
  • Prepare, review, and compile statistical reports and operational data for despatch KPIs to ensure compliance with performance measurements.
  • Deliver daily requirements to ensure we meet our invoicing times throughout a day.
  • Lead and co-ordinate all training for all team members at each operational area ensuring best practice is followed at all times. Ensure skills are up to date and fully utilised. Using our inhouse health, safety and training Hub.
  • Attend regular meetings and actively collaborate with all levels of the business including the Director of Operations to ensure daily objectives are delivered.
  • Lead and engage a team. Identify and nurture talent, effective performance management and creating an environment where others are engaged and empowered to deliver at their best. Working alongside individual operational management functions (departmental)
  • Active collaboration with the entire operations management team to achieve sustainable improvements in service, efficiency and cost reduction across the distribution centre. Acting as a senior member of the operations management team to role model desired company behaviours and strategic pillars for Despatch shift functions.

The Ideal Person for the Despatch Operations Manager role:

  • Demonstration of delivering significant process improvements throughout all areas of an operation through analytical and strategic thinking.
  • First class systems and process knowledge
  • Extensive Knowledge of Blue Yonder and or other WMS applications.
  • Experience of relationship management with 3PL partners building effective working relationships.
  • Experience of working directly with clients
  • Experience of making a technical contribution to systems or process related roadmaps (or able to demonstrate.)
  • Proven people management experience and leading multi-functional teams.
  • Decisive decision making and site leadership.
