An opportunity for a bright and enthusiastic sales professional to join an exciting business who develop and market innovative insurance solutions for the automotive industry, specifically, motor dealerships. The company has a prestigious client base across the industry and currently provides schemes for 8 of the top 20 dealer groups in the UK.

Position Summary:

The Development Manager’s primary purpose is to achieve financial growth through the increased penetration of insurance sales. It is a diverse and challenging role, requiring substantial people skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced sales environment, across a UK wide client base.

Development Managers build and develop key relationships with their client’s mid and senior level management by providing support that will continually improve the business relationship. They must be able to develop rapport quickly, analyse performance, make recommendations, set sales targets, deliver training, and implement development plans with sales teams. They also need to work closely with other departments such as marketing, technical staff and compliance.

Development Managers improve their client’s insurance sales and profitability through the implementation of dedicated development programmes, whilst maintaining a high level of visibility across their account responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Development

While the exact responsibilities will vary depending on the client’s requirements, the main duties of the Development Manager can be summarised as follows:

  • Developing and maintaining client relationships with key personnel and Regional Development Managers.
  • Maintaining a dealer visit schedule, account visibility and presence within allocated responsibilities.
  • Implementing development programmes with dealership sales teams; analysing sales performance and processes, making recommendations, implementing action plans and delivering training.
  • Reviewing performance, conducting sales planning, and forecasting performance targets.
  • Conducting regional and group reviews of performance and agreeing development strategies with our clients.
  • Delivering group training sessions to sales staff.
  • Coaching and mentoring sales teams.
  • Maximising new business/development opportunities - delivering new product launches.
  • Writing and developing new training material.
  • Submitting sales reports and target trackers.
  • Recording development activity and maintaining CRMs.
  • Entertaining, planning and hosting client hospitality packages.
  • Representing the business at sales conferences, awards event and networking occasions.
  • Liaising with internal departments on developments projects.
  • Maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of our client’s business, the market conditions and regulation.
  • Operating within and promoting the company’s compliance framework.

Relevant Experience/Education:

Development Managers will be experts in selling, influencing and negotiating. They are strong communicators and highly personable individuals. They can build rapport and business relationships quickly and can operate in a highly pressured sales environment, with lots of travel requirement. They are highly motivated individuals that operate comfortably in relative autonomy.

On offer is a £26,000 basic salary (rising to £30,000 after 12 months), £5 - £7,000 annual bonus plus many company benefits.
