Job Title -Development Underwriter (Commercial Insurance)

Contract - Permanent

Salary -to £55,000

Location - Belfast Area (home based)

Purpose of the Role:

Offering an efficient and professional underwriting service to local brokers, building brand awareness and competitive prices. Handling SME/Mid-size commercial insurance risks.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong local broker relationships.
  • Underwrite new and existing business commercial insurance risks - commercial property, motor, EL, PL, commercial combined, business interruption, etc.
  • Work as part of a team to build brand.
  • Ensure service level agreements are achieved.
  • Broker visits where requested.
  • Attend networking events.
  • Develop trading methods to secure high conversion through successful lead to quote rates.
  • Achieve personal and business objectives.
  • Ensure service standards are achieved.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience gained within commercial insurance underwriting products - property, motor, EL, PL, commercial combined, property owners, etc.
  • Understanding of the local broking marketplace with relationships in place.
  • A good understanding of insurance principles.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Progression towards CII qualifications would be beneficial.
