DevOps Engineer - Global Consultancy - AWS, Azure, GCP

Manchester - Onsite/Hybrid (first 6 months onsite) - £40,000 - £70,000

Applause IT are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join a global IT Consultancy firm based in Manchester. As a DevOps Engineer you will play a vital role in contributing to client projects and open source initiatives.

The ideal candidate should possess expertise in AWS and ideally Azure and GCP as the organisation work across all 3 platforms.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with development teams to ensure timely project delivery and adherence to rigorous quality standards.
  • Develop and deploy continuous integration and delivery pipelines to streamline the software delivery process.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production systems to uphold high levels of availability and reliability.
  • Implement and uphold stringent security measures to safeguard systems and data.
  • Collaborate with the team to establish and enforce best practices for infrastructure and automation tools, such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Immutable Infrastructure.
  • Engage in design, development, and code reviews to maintain code quality and promote team collaboration.
  • Keep abreast of emerging DevOps trends and technologies to continuously improve processes and tools.

The ideal DevOps Engineer will have experience in:

  • Working with free and open source software (FOSS)
  • Linux, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, Rust
  • Cloud Services: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud
  • Configuration management tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet
  • Server templating tools: Packer, Vagrant, Docker/Podman
  • Orchestration tools: Kubernetes, Nomad
  • Provisioning tools: Terraform, Pulumi
  • CI/CD Systems: GitLab CI, GitHub actions
  • Security best practices
