  • Hours of work: Contractually 9:00 am to 5:30 pm (inclusive of 1 hour lunch break)
  • Mondays to Fridays Note: office closes at 5:00 pm
  • Salary: £23,000, rising to £23,800 on completion of probation
  • Probation period x 3 Months
  • Holidays: 20 days plus all Bank Holidays (Pro-rata)

Post Summary

The Advocacy Services Department are an in-house administration team, supporting a panel of county court advocates who attend litigation hearings nationwide. Our clients advocates are all legal professionals, and their clients range from individuals with debt or property claims at court, to large Solicitor Firms, and Insurance Companies.

Your Role

Working within the Advocacy Services Department, your core task will be to oversee our Advocacy Diary through regular engagement and liaison with advocate colleagues.

You will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day management of the Court Advocacy Diary, as well as providing administrative and clerical support to the team, ensuring the smooth running of the Department.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Inputting & updating Advocacy Diary. By booking and editing Court Hearing entries, you will ensure our people attend all Court Hearings on time.
  • Chasing clients and advocates for late responses for papers and bookings.
  • Assisting the Advocate Manager in collating Advocacy Diary data.
  • General office duties - attending to incoming calls and emails, checking files, and uploading case papers onto our web-based systems.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail - due to the nature of the job, the candidate is required to be careful and very thorough when completing tasks.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Confident with good communication skills (both orally and in writing)
  • Able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft 365 Office and other relevant software

Desirable Skills

No legal experience is required for the role although it involves dealing with legal professionals on a daily basis, and so this role may be of interest to anyone with a new or general interest in working in law or a solicitor's practice.
