Job Purpose:

Lead the digital forensics lab to excellence, managing the department's performance as a centre of excellence in line with the ACPO Good Practice Guide for Digital Evidence, Criminal Procedure Rules, and Civil Procedure Rules.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Management:

  • Team Supervision: Take charge of supervising the digital forensic lab, ensuring they follow procedures, maintain quality standards, and meet client expectations.
  • Performance Reviews: Help your team grow with regular performance reviews and personal development plans.
  • HR Collaboration: Work with HR to handle any staff-related issues in the lab. We're all human... mostly.
  • Project Management: Keep client projects on track and on time, meeting all contract commitments. It's like herding cats, but with more tech and fewer claws.
  • Resource Coordination: Collaborate with the Digital Forensics Services Manager on resources, pricing, and delivery dates.
  • Efficiency Improvement: Always look for ways to boost quality and productivity by reviewing staffing levels and costs.
  • Recruitment: Lead the way in hiring new talent for the lab.
  • Meeting Leadership: Run lab meetings to keep everyone informed and aligned. Donuts are optional, but highly recommended.
  • Casework Review: Oversee casework to ensure they maintain high standards.
  • Stay Updated: Stay on top of new developments in digital forensics to meet future client needs.
  • Innovation: Explore new solutions for data extraction and analysis from unfamiliar devices. Who doesn't love a good challenge
  • Staff Management: Keep an eye on attendance and punctuality to ensure everyone sticks to working hours.
  • Training Plans: Create and deliver training plans to keep their team skilled and up-to-date.
  • Policy Implementation: Drive company policy and process improvements. You're the policy Picasso.
  • Action Planning: Team up with the Digital Forensics Services Manager on key issues and create action plans.
  • Cost Monitoring: Manage the costing of forensic exams and adjust when additional work is required.
  • Delegation: Delegate tasks to the right team members.

Technical:

  • Compliance: Make sure all their work follows QISM and ISO procedures. They are all about dotting the i's and crossing the t's.
  • Client Communication: Keep clients in the loop about the status and results of their examinations.
  • Procedure Validation: Approve the use of undocumented procedures when needed, ensuring quality is maintained.
  • Process Enhancement: Validate any changes to forensic processes with the Digital Forensics Services Manager.
  • Quality Support: Help the Quality Manager implement quality initiatives across the company.
  • Standards Monitoring: Ensure procedures and quality standards are communicated and upheld in the lab.
  • Complaint Investigation: Assist with investigating and documenting complaints with the Strategic Management Team.

Business Development and Research:

  • Marketing Participation: Share your insights and participate in company marketing efforts because who doesn’t want to show off their awesome team
  • Client Meetings: Attend meetings with clients to discuss their needs and our client’s solutions.

Accreditation:

  • Compliance: Work in adherence and promote ISO 27001, ISO 17025, FSR Code, ISO 14001, ISO 9001.
