Accelerate Teaching is seeking an experienced and dedicated Design and Technology (DT) Technician to support the smooth running of the DT department at a dynamic and forward-thinking secondary school in Wakefield. About the Role:
As a DT Technician, you will play a key role in supporting teachers and students in the delivery of DT lessons. Your expertise and practical skills will ensure that all equipment is well-maintained, resources are readily available, and health and safety standards are upheld. This is a role that demands a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and setting up of materials and equipment for practical lessons
- Ensure all machinery and tools are regularly serviced and in safe working order
- Provide in-class support during lessons, helping students with the use of tools and materials
- Maintain accurate records of stock, materials, and equipment, ensuring timely reordering when necessary
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines and support the implementation of risk assessments
- Collaborate with the teaching staff to develop innovative teaching resources and lesson materials
About You:
- Prior experience in a similar role within a school or workshop environment is essential
- Strong knowledge of machinery, tools, and materials used in a DT setting
- A proactive and resourceful approach, with excellent problem-solving skills
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and organised work environment
- Ability to work effectively with both staff and students
