Criminal Duty Solicitor
  • Location: Bristol
  • Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid
  • Salary: £40-50.000/annum DOE, plus overtime

We are seeking a dedicated Criminal Duty Solicitor to join a dynamic team within a Bristol-based law firm specialising in criminal defence. This role is ideal for a solicitor with a passion for justice and a commitment to providing exceptional legal representation to clients facing serious charges.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Represent clients in a wide range of criminal cases, including those involving complex legal defences such as insanity, automatism, intoxication, and duress.
  • Provide high-level legal advice and advocacy in both Magistrates’ and Crown Courts.
  • Manage a demanding caseload with professionalism, ensuring all cases are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Work closely with clients to develop robust defence strategies, ensuring their rights are protected throughout the legal process.
  • Liaise with law enforcement, witnesses, and other legal professionals to gather evidence and build strong cases.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in criminal law and legal practice to provide informed advice and representation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • PQE of at least 1 year within a criminal practice.
  • Accreditation as a Duty Solicitor is desirable.
  • Proven track record of handling a broad range of criminal cases.
  • Ability to manage a demanding caseload with a high degree of professionalism and competence.
  • Strong advocacy skills and experience in delivering robust legal defence services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to clients from diverse backgrounds.
