EDM Machinist

Elevation Engineering & Manufacturing is a specialist division of Elevation Recruitment Group, are currently recruiting a Senior EDM Machinist for a Sheffield based Manufacturing business.

The Role:
The individual in this role will ensure that products and components are machined efficiently and according to drawing specifications. The candidate must have an engineering or machining background, with expertise in EDM wire cutting, programming, and efficiency optimization.

Working Hours:
Morning, Afters and Night shifts available (flexible in shift pattern)
(afters and nights are 4 days a week)

Salary:
£15-£18 per hour DOE (Shift allowance +£3per hour on afternoons, +£6 per hour on nights)

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Experience in EDM Wire cutting (essential), CNC lathe, grinding, rotatory balancing (desired)
• Proficient in EDM Programming, optimising cutting times, and improving overall process efficiency.
• Understand maintenance of EDM machines
• Involvement in Lean projects, and willingness to be a key driver of process improvements, working closely with the engineering team.
• Experience with measuring equipment such as micrometres, verniers, CMM and optical measuring equipment.
• Work safely and ensure all products are machined according to provided work instructions and drawings.
• Ensure all job order documentation are accurately completed and logged into the data capture system.
• Promptly identify and report any non-conformances to the team leader and collaborate with Engineering/QA to understand the causes and participate in corrective actions.
• Maintain all tooling and machinery as advised, ensuring measurement equipment are calibrated and in good working order.
• Keep the machine area tidy and organised. 
• Adhere to all H&S legal requirements, policies, and procedures at all times.

Requirements:

• Engineering based qualification. 
• Proven background using CNC machines with specialist knowledge in EDM. 
• Health and Safety awareness
• Ability to read engineering drawings. 
• Team player but confident to work with limited supervision.
