Education Pastoral Officer

Prospero Teaching are recruiting for an Education Pastoral Officer, for a specialist SEN School located Poole, Dorset.

The school is a specialist setting supporting secondary aged pupils with Autism and additional learning difficulties.

As an Education Pastoral Officer, you will be working directly with students outside of the classroom environment on a 1:1 basis whether thats within their home or another site helping to support their school attendance.The successful candidate will be a pro-active individual, supporting pupils to engange with learning.

Duties:

  • Delivering 1:1 learning and engagement sessions with students in their own homes, in school or on another site
  • Designing students timetables and learning experiences
  • Transporting students in a school vehicle
  • Continually maintain and develop pedagogic skills, subject understanding and knowledge of awarding body and subject specification requirements
  • Undertaking employer and workplace/work placement visits
  • Undertaking and meeting any relevant CPD requirements
  • General administration relevant to the role

Contract Details for Education Pastoral Officer:

  • Location: Poole, Dorset

  • Full time/part time: Full-Time
  • Minimum rate of pay: £80.00 per day

Experience, Training and Qualifications needed for Education Pastoral Officer role:

  • Previous experience in education is required, ideally within the SEN Sector, although this is not essential providing you have the right attitude and desire.
  • Previous experience working with challenging behaviour would be advantageous
  • A passion for working with children with SEMH.
  • Pro Active in the classroom and a willingness to join in with class activities.
  • You should have lots of energy and enthusiasm with a positive attitude towards working with SEN students.
  • Level 3 Qualifications / ELSA Qualifications / Degree

To be eligible you must:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references
