The Role

  • To carry out installation, maintenance, fault finding and repairs on a range of electrical systems.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and planned maintenance work
  • To identify root causes wherever possible and to communicate with relevant personnel.
  • Responsible for correct wiring of high value equipment and machinery.
  • Use of PLC system control and manipulation of programme, including fault finding and enquiries and follow up. Commissioning and reading drawings.
  • Report danger of faulty equipment and electrical installations through formal record system
  • Uphold safe working practices at all times observing instructions, procedures, permits, safety systems, lock offs and other protocols applicable.
  • To record activities as directed
  • Must be willing to undertake forklift truck and overhead crane training.
  • Assist in the development of new starters and trainees.

The Person:

  • Electrical qualification, for example, Apprenticeship, City and Guilds, BS 7671 - 18th Edition
  • Good maintenance knowledge and fault-finding skills
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and ability to conform to stringent procedures and work within strict health and safety practices
  • Accuracy and competency required in making connections, attaching leads, circuit testing
  • Reliable and flexible attitude to work
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build relationships with colleagues, suppliers & contractors
  • Knowledge of diecasting, CNC machines and robots would be advantageous
