As an Development Technician, you will play a crucial role in the repair, testing, and development of electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems. Your responsibilities will include performing surveys, conducting repairs on circuit boards, carrying out functional and system testing and supporting building of prototype systems, compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- To undertake surveys on returned assemblies and carry out the modifications and repairs.
- To test electrical and electronic assemblies and equipment using standard safe operating procedures to MoD and commercial standards.
- To undertake the build of first off prototype equipment and liaise with Engineering to achieve optimum solutions.
- Undertake testing and laboratory testing of products.
- To carry out repairs to PCB and wired assemblies to IPC standards.
- Ensure supporting documentation and company procedures are followed.
- Carry out any other duties as reasonably required by Management.
- Collaborate with Engineering to build prototype equipment and find optimal solutions.
- To ensure health and safety legislation and policies are adhered to, to ensure a safe and legally compliant working environment.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures and documentation standards
Experience needed:
- A minimum of a HND in electrical engineering is required, providing you with the foundational knowledge necessary to excel in this role.
- Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety requirements and legislation.
- Ability to read electrical /electronic / wiring diagrams.
- Technicians should show a broad range of general engineering skills covering communication (Written and Verbal) through to systems engineering methodologies and understanding of safety and configuration control.
- Awareness of ESD prevention practices & component handling.
- HND/HNC in relevant discipline or equivalent.
- IPC 610/620 qualification.
- J-STD-001.
- IPC-771/7721
Desirable:
- Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous
- Experience in the Naval / Maritime domain would be advantageous.
