Role:
As an Electronics Test and Inspection Technician, your role is critical in ensuring the quality, reliability, and safety of electrical components used in autonomous robots. You'll meticulously inspect and test electrical harnesses, printed circuit boards (PCBs), electronic components, and assembled systems to meet industry standards and engineering specifications. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality contribute to the success of cutting-edge robotics technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Inspection:
    • Inspect electrical harnesses, connectors, and cables for proper assembly, routing, and secure connections.
    • Verify the integrity of solder joints, crimps, and terminations.
    • Examine PCBs for defects, including solder bridges, component placement, and trace continuity.
    • Verify completeness of assembly, quality, and conformance to engineering specifications.
    • Inspect wiring accuracy, including stripping, soldering, crimping, and identifying defects.
  • Functional Testing:
    • Conduct functional tests on electrical components, assembled PCBAs, and subsystems
    • Operate ATEs (Automated Test Equipment), multimeters, oscilloscopes, and dedicated software to verify functionality, continuity, signal integrity, and insulation resistance.
    • Ensure compliance with design requirements and safety standards.
  • Assembly Verification and Test:
    • Utilise specialised test equipment and software to verify functionality and connectivity of complete robot assemblies.
    • Validate proper integration, alignment, and secure mounting.
    • Verify cable routing and strain relief.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and any deviations.
    • Document findings, including non-conformities and corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with engineers to improve design and manufacturing processes.
  • Quality Control, Safety, and Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to industry standards (e.g., IPC-A-610) and safety regulations.
    • Prioritise safety during inspections and testing procedures.
    • Identify and report any anomalies or potential issues.
    • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
    • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Electronics Production team, Electronics Engineers, and Quality personnel.
    • Communicate findings, recommend corrective actions, and participate in continuous improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Relevant technical degree or certification (e.g., Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field).
  • Experience: Prior experience in electronics testing, inspection, or quality control.
  • Proficiency in using inspection equipment.
  • Solid understanding of electrical theory and construction.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in reading schematics, technical drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards for soldering and assembly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
