About the role:

A fantastic opportunity for a qualified solicitor to join the Boots UK Legal team as an Employment Lawyer. You will join a close-knit team, that has a varied remit, primarily supporting the Boots UK & Ireland and Boots Opticians businesses.

The role focuses on managing a significant employment tribunal case load, and providing solution orientated, risk based legal advice to the business. You will also have opportunities to support other in-house lawyers in relation to the employment and industrial relations aspects of other transactions, including outsourcing, mergers and acquisitions activity, and TUPE matters. This role reports to the Director of Employment Law, International.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

• managing employment claims for Boots UK, Boots Opticians and other Walgreens Boots Alliance businesses;

• managing relationships with external counsel in respect of employment work;

• providing skilled, timely employment advice and support to the HR Director, key stakeholders and the wider HR Function in accordance with Boots’ strategy and its operational and commercial needs; and

• partnering closely with the HR Leadership teams to drive best practice.

What you’ll need to have:

• You should be a qualified solicitor (England & Wales) or hold an equivalent qualification with 3 years post qualified experience (indicative).

• You should have broad experience of employment law matters in the UK with a demonstrable ability to handle a significant litigation case load.

• You should have a keen commercial outlook with sufficient technical experience to work autonomously in an in-house employment law team.

• You should be an excellent communicator and be able to build strong relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts at all levels.
