Reed Further Education are seeking a dedicated Lecturer of English to join an Alternative Provision Team on a part-time, fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This role is ideal for an individual with exceptional teaching skills and the ability to engage and motivate young people who are on individualised programmes at the college. Role: English Lecturer - Alternative Provision

Part-time (21 hours per week)

Fixed-term (one year)

Location: Cambridge (CB4)/ Huntingdon (PE29)

Salary: £28p/h - £35p/h including holiday pay

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in English and Personal Development within alternative provision programmes.
  • Work across both college campuses, taking responsibility for the organisation and delivery of the curriculum.
  • Engage and motivate students who are referred from schools, home-educated, or unable to access mainstream education.
  • Use your experience and teaching skills to transform the learning skills of our Alternative Provision students, equipping them for further technical and vocational study.
  • Collaborate with a high-performing team dedicated to student success.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Desirable - Experience of working with students in an alternative provision setting or within a school or College environment.
  • Excellent teaching skills with the ability to engage and motivate challenging learners.
  • Experience delivering GCSE/Functional skills English.
  • Relevant teaching qualification.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively to students and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour.
