Position Title: Key Stage 3-4 English Teacher
Location: Carterton, Oxfordshire
Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Head of English Department

Position Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join our team at a thriving Seconjdary school in Carterton, Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English to students in Key Stages 3 and 4. The ideal candidate will have a passion for literature and language, a commitment to educational excellence, and the ability to inspire and engage students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the national curriculum and school standards.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Regularly assess students' work, provide constructive feedback, and use assessment data to inform and adjust teaching strategies.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, safe, and orderly classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Student Engagement: Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and promote a love for literature and language.
  • Lesson Planning: Develop and implement detailed lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
  • Professional Development: Participate in continuous professional development opportunities and contribute to departmental and school-wide initiatives.
  • Parent Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
  • Collaborative Working: Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and strategies for improving student outcomes.
  • Extra-curricular Activities: Contribute to the wider school community by participating in extracurricular activities, school events, and literature-related clubs or competitions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field. A postgraduate teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Certification: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience teaching English at the Key Stage 3 and 4 levels is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong subject knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Technology: Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools to enhance teaching and learning.
