Job Title: English Teacher

Location: Epping


We are currently recruiting for a Pupil Referral Unit based in Epping who are dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for students facing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. The School are committed to helping every student reach their full potential, regardless of their background or circumstances.


The School are currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic English Teacher, focusing on teaching GCSE English to Key Stage 4 (KS4) students with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviours. The successful applicant will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that cater to the diverse learning styles and abilities of the students. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a real impact by inspiring and empowering young people to achieve academic success and develop essential life skills.

This is a full-time, permanent role to start in September 2024. The salary will be equal to the main Teachers' pay scale plus SEN points.

As an English Teacher, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the GCSE English curriculum, tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH challenges.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their learning journey.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support and development.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant teaching qualifications.
  • Experience teaching GCSE English to Key Stage 4 students, preferably in a similar SEMH setting.
  • A deep understanding of SEMH challenges and a passion for supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of young people.
  • Resilience, flexibility, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.
