English Teacher
  • Job Type: Full-time, Term time only
  • Location: West Sussex
  • Salary: Up to UPS3 + SEN Allowance of £2,539 p.a. (ECT applicants welcomed)

A reputable independent residential special school catering to children aged 9-18 with a range of special educational needs. We are looking for an English Teacher who is either an outstanding, inclusive practitioner or an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) with experience in teaching Key Stage 3 and 4.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Planning, delivering, and assessing bespoke creative teaching programmes within the National Curriculum expectations.
  • Devising and teaching the curriculum, assessing and reporting pupil progress.
  • Implementing safeguarding systems and maintaining high standards in Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Risk Assessments, and Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour through positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Working closely with our SEND Team, including Specialist Teachers, Therapists, and Counsellors.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience of teaching Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • High expectations of pupils and proven ability to use positive behaviour management strategies effectively.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with pupils with SEMH, ASC, SpLD, MLD, and Trauma and Attachment desirable.
  • A specialist teaching qualification at level 5 or above would be an advantage but not essential.
