Job Description:

The school is seeking a dedicated Teacher of English to join their supportive and dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of teaching English to secondary-aged students with a variety of SEN needs, and a passion for delivering creative, engaging lessons that foster a love for learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver effective, differentiated English lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

  • Adapt teaching methods to suit the learning needs of students with SEN, ensuring each student has access to the curriculum and is supported to reach their potential.

  • Implement strategies to support the development of literacy skills, including reading, writing, and communication.

  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to help them improve their understanding and skills.

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of tailored interventions and support plans.

  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

  • Contribute to the wider school community and engage in extracurricular activities when appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • A degree in English, Education, or a related field.

  • Experience teaching English to secondary-aged students, preferably with SEN experience.

  • A strong understanding of the barriers students with SEN face and how to differentiate instruction.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with both students and staff.

  • A passion for helping students achieve their potential, regardless of their challenges.

  • A team player who can work collaboratively with other educators and support staff.
