Job Title: Environmental Compliance Officer
Location: Walsall, occasional travel to the Cambridge region will be required
Salary: Up to £34,000 per annum
Job Type: 9-month temporary contract

Support the environment team by undertaking desk and field-based assessments of our activities to provide assurances that we are efficiently and effectively complying with relevant environmental legislation and standards. This is an internal facing role, with the key contacts being the wider Environment and Strategy Team, Production, Operations and OT

The Role:

  • Implement an environmental compliance audit strategy to assess, monitor and report on our existing processes and systems in place for permitted discharges.
  • Identify corrective actions required and opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Seek to develop new systems or processes for compliance management, with support from internal stakeholders, as required.
  • Identify any investment needs and develop business cases for progression.
  • Engage with other departments to build strong working relationships and influence behaviours
  • Support with the development of operating manuals, working instructions and site compliance documentation.
  • Work with the Training and Development Coordinator to ensure training plans include updated processes.
  • Produce a compliance management report for all sites where we have an environmental permit.
  • Liaise with Production, OT and other relevant departments.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and standards and always operate with integrity. Provide specialist advice to enable the company to meet environmental compliance requirements.
  • Produce a compliance management report for all audited sites.
  • Report findings to Environmental Compliance Steering Group.

What You’ll Need:

  • Understanding of relevant environmental legislation.
  • Ability to show attention to details.
  • A degree in an environmental subject, or A-level/equivalent with at least three years relevant experience.
  • Experience of managing the successful delivery of projects.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload.
  • Proven experience in communication and collaboration with a range of stakeholders.
  • Due to being across multiple locations, a full UK driving license is required.
