Are you a qualified Environmental Risk Advisor, with current up to date knowledge of all industry ISO standards?
Does your experience include providing operational support and guidance, ensuring compliance, managing defects, reporting and management system maintenance?

In return, we offer a salary of £36,407 plus Car Scheme (£6,640), up to 10% Bonus (~ £3,640), Company Pension, 25 Holiday Days + Bank Holiday, and benefits catalogue.
Total Package at the time of joining up to £46,687.
We'll help you progress and develop yourself further and will support you with creating a development plan to achieve that.

What will I be doing?

  • Providing environment and industrial risk compliance support for all areas of the business (primarily Energy and Landfill, but also Processing, I&C and Municipal).
  • Providing a regional focal point for EIR best practice, providing advice, guidance, support and recommendations to the Operational Teams to ensure a process of continual improvement and that all activities are undertaken in full compliance with environmental permits, legislation, EIR Management Guidelines and relevant ISO and BS standards.
  • Assist in the management and update of the Group IRM (Insurance Risk Management) platform for the UK.
  • To be a point of contact with the Regulator, to review compliance assessment reports and permit breaches, and to assist in notifications when required.
  • Assist in compiling and submitting annual reports, PI reports and waste returns to EA (as well as any other report as required by the Environmental Permit).
  • Produce management plans (Fire Prevention Plan, Odour Management Plan, Site Management Plan and Monitoring Management Plan) which accurately reflect regulatory requirements.
  • Provide advice and guidance on incident management so as to reduce the risk of pollution to the environment.

What are the requirements/qualifications?

  • Degree or equivalent in Environmental Sciences, or alternative environmental qualifications (WAMITAB etc).
  • Professional membership of relevant bodies in order to keep up to date with the latest standards.
  • At least three years' knowledge of Management Systems is essential (writing, reviewing and maintaining). Environment permits require all activities to be undertaken to 'best available techniques’ (BAT) and thus the post holder needs to keep abreast of changes within all activities of the industry and to ensure sustained accreditation to ISO 9000, 14000 and 18000 standards.
  • A detailed understanding of project management approaches. The work requires good project management skills to ensure the correct information is provided within the statutory timescales.
  • Knowledge of legal reporting requirements for example waste return, energy efficiency, permit requirements
