**ESG MI/BI Data Analyst** (Contract)

Duration: Up until 31 March 2025 (Possibility for extension)

Location: London/Hybrid (2 days per week on site)

Rate: A highly competitive Umbrella Day Rate is available for suitable candidates

Role Profile

The ESG MI/BI Data Analyst will support the EMEA Sustainability Strategy Team by delivering core analytics capabilities and services to meet regulatory requirements and enhance BAU processes. They will sit within the Data Analytics Team and work with the wider EMEA Data Office to support delivery against the ESG Data Strategy for the bank.

A primary objective will be to work with internal stakeholders to turn their data into actionable insights which deliver business value to support our strategic objectives. Supporting the rollout and adoption of ESG data analytics products.

We are seeking an enthusiastic problem solver who is keen to get involved at the early part of an exciting journey for the bank. The role will be involved in some interesting work including innovative prototyping, small projects, and larger programs of work.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Acting as key part of the Data Office interface with the Sustainability Data & Technology Business Owner and Project Manager for ESG related requests.
  • Preparing and transforming data for use in analytics products using appropriate tooling and techniques.
  • Delivering new analytics products using best practice data analysis and data visualisation techniques to translate complex data into insightful reports and interactive dashboards.
  • Running proofs-of-concept to evaluate feasibility and value, uncovering benefits for our stakeholders, customers, and businesses.
  • Supporting the rollout and adoption of ESG analytics products, this includes providing in-house coaching support and training for users and product owners.
  • Working with the analysts embedded within the Sustainability Team to help them create data visualisation content which will harness their data assets and turn them into actionable insights.
  • Identifying cross-functional use-cases where data analysis and data visualisation techniques can be applied to deliver business value.
  • Presenting interesting insights to the wider business.
  • Ensuring that there is sufficient documentation for the products to assure both development and ongoing maintenance.
  • Collaborating with the wider data family, including analysts, engineers, and product managers.
  • Supporting the implementation of the EMEA Data Strategy Framework and the EMEA Sustainability Strategy.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience using Power BI and/or Tableau to develop interactive data driven dashboards.
  • Core competency in SQL programming.
  • Strong data manipulation and preparation skills with experience of using Alteryx or similar applications.
  • Ability to maintain, support and change analytics products such as Tableau or Power BI Dashboards, using appropriate version control methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of testing approaches and experience of applying appropriate testing methodologies to quality assure development and delivery of data analytics products.
  • A good understanding of, and experience of applying, project management principles and approaches like waterfall and agile.
  • Experience of training others in the use of Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • Experience of working in the financial services industry and with a good working understanding of the Sustainability / ESG data domainincluding typical data used to assess sustainability performance and risk; as well as current data limitations. A familiarity with ESG related regulations e.g., EU Taxonomy, CSRD and ISSB would be a bonus.
  • Experience working in a data team and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify, scope and develop data analytics solutions.
  • An outstanding problem solver who has an analytical mindset, is inquisitive, innovative, and excellent with technology enabling a creative approach to solution scoping and delivery.
  • Tableau and/or Power BI certification.
  • Experience of developing analytics products using the full Microsoft Office stack - Power Query, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Apps.
  • Solid experience of statistical techniques and hands on statistical modelling experience.
  • Experience of working in an organisation that has rolled out self-serve analytics tooling at enterprise level.
  • Proficiency with at least one data science programming language e.g., R, Python.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and issues within the Data Analytics and Data Science landscapes.
  • Experience working with cloud environments & components (e.g., on Google Cloud Platform or equivalent).
