Job Summary:

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for pipeworks and drainage projects. This role requires a detailed-oriented professional with a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in estimating for similar projects and possess excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Preparation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for pipeworks and drainage projects, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Project Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand the scope of work and identify potential cost implications.
  • Cost Management: Develop and maintain cost databases and ensure all estimates are based on current and realistic pricing.
  • Bid Preparation: Compile and submit competitive bids, ensuring compliance with all client requirements and deadlines.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate potential risks and provide recommendations to mitigate them.
  • Vendor and Supplier Liaison: Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and ensure accurate pricing.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project goals and objectives.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports on estimate status, budget considerations, and any deviations from initial estimates.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in estimating pipeworks and drainage projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, Esticom) and advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations related to pipeworks and drainage.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
