They are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator to join their team and play a critical role in their project planning and execution.

Job Summary:

The Estimator will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs and preparing detailed estimates for residential refurbishment and commercial fit-out projects. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the construction industry, particularly in these sectors, and possess strong analytical and numerical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for residential refurbishment and commercial fit-out projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Bid Preparation: Develop comprehensive bid proposals and tender submissions, ensuring all documentation is complete and meets client requirements.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research to obtain competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of market trends and cost fluctuations.
  • Project Evaluation: Assess project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand the scope and requirements of each project.
  • Client Liaison: Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements, provide cost breakdowns, and address any queries or concerns.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and opportunities within project estimates, recommending strategies to mitigate or capitalize on them.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgets.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotes, and correspondence, ensuring all information is organized and easily accessible.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, with a focus on residential refurbishments and commercial fit-outs.
  • Education: Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Relevant professional certifications (e.g., RICS, CIOB) are advantageous.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and numerical skills with a keen attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as CostX, Bluebeam, or similar.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
    • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
    • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
