Location: Midlands Office (Birmingham preferred)
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 (Negotiable based on experience)
Company Overview:
We are a leading main contractor specializing in refurbishment projects across various sectors, including retail, education, and office conversions. With a rapidly increasing workload and a focus on quality and speed, we are looking to expand our team by bringing on an experienced Estimator to help manage the growing demand.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Estimator to join our Midlands office, ideally based in Birmingham. The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in estimating for refurbishment projects, particularly in fast-paced environments. You will complement our young and efficient team, providing leadership and expertise without the need for extensive oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the end-to-end tendering process for refurbishment projects, typically valued at £5-6 million.
Produce accurate cost estimates for a range of projects, including retail park units, college and university fit-outs, and office conversions of listed buildings.
Evaluate and interpret tender documents, drawings, and specifications.
Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to obtain accurate and competitive quotations.
Provide cost breakdowns, pricing schedules, and value engineering options.
Collaborate with project teams to ensure the smooth transition from tender to contract stage.
Maintain awareness of industry trends, material costs, and competitor activity to ensure competitiveness.
Attend site visits and client meetings as necessary to support the tender process.
Qualifications and Experience:
Extensive experience in estimating, particularly within the refurbishment sector.
Strong understanding of CAT A works, retail park units, and listed building conversions.
Proven ability to manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in relevant estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
